From the Bottom of Heap: The Autobiography of a Black Panther
by Robert Hillary King
Part of the Angola 3, a three-person political prisoner group, Robert Hilary King was imprisoned for 31 years, 29 of which were solitary confinement. He helped to organize and create awareness against prison injustice and mistreatment while in prison, and was also an extremely active member in the only prison-recognized chapter of the Black Panthers. Upon his release in 2001, he began work on this book, a memoir / eye-opener, cultivating incredible courage, inspiration, and ultimately telling a story championing the human spirit, and how indelible and unbreakable it is.
