Train on the Brain dvd
by Alison Murray
Of the great handful of trainhopping videos and films I've seen, this is easily one of my favorites - Alison, the filmmaker, does an excellent job of showing the whole gamut of train riding, rather than a straight 'romanticized' portrait of getting around for free. This film also portrays some dilemmas they run into, and how they deal with them, which is really nice. This would be a good primer for anyone interested in train riding, though it certainly isn't a d.i.y. manual of how to do it, per se. There's a hilarious part where they almost get left because they're swimming, and it'll pin you to your seat, seriously. For what it's worth, after I watched this, I felt compelled enough to write Alison a complimentary email. Honest!
