Growing Season

by Maryann Cocca-Leffler Author

In this sweet book about growing up, author Maryann Cocca-Leffler uses the metaphor of a class project where students must tend to a plant to impart the message to young readers that we all grow in our own time and that everyone (and every plant) is different. Two friends in the same grade are the same size, until one starts to become taller all of a sudden. The shorter friend is hurt and feels left behind, until the plant she is taking care of over the summer begins to grow and she does as well. A cute story that will help kids of all heights understand that everything happens in its time and that everyone is different.
