Ten Thousand Things To Do #1
by Jesse Reklaw
Jesse Reklaw (Applicant, Couch Tag zine) has started doing diary comics! I'd highly recommend checking them out, but that could be because they contain some of my favorite diary comic themes: cats, cartooning, and persistent depression. Jesse spends most of his days booking a tour, and drawing other people's dreams, but keeps it lively along the way. If you like the diary comics genre, then these will be among your favorites soon enough.

easily my favorite diary comic in the last few years, if not ever. jesse is an effortlessly funny and highly over-productive cartoonist who's been honing his chops with the weekly strip Slow Wave for the last decade (!). highlights include guest panels by his incredibly talented partner (& fellow cartoonist and painter) andrice arp, his evolving charts to graph his "mood, pains, energy and other stuff," and his howling and barfing cats. so good on so many levels. lots of stuff about touring and planning, staying sane juggling freelance work projects, dealing with the human body's dumb propensity for pain and depression, random local portland activity and cameos, the intoxication of playing drums and making music, and just all-around hilarious, kick-ass tomfoolery.
