Never Kneel

Never Kneel

by Seth Graham

Seth wrote Never Kneel to explain his transition from religious believer to anti-god.  He was a Christian but clarifies this is NOT an anti-christian zine. Christianity was just the religion he was most exposed to, so is generally the focus of his zine. He recounts his path from total acceptance to complete rejection, starting with the origin of his faith. He grew up Catholic in South Buffalo and attended church every Sunday, but met people from other faiths as he got older. During dark stints of depression, he found even prayer did not alleviate his sadness. He began reading about evolution. He began making friends who were queer. And he realized that the things he believed just didn't fit within the confines of his religion. It's an easy to relate to story for anyone who's tried to reconcile their faith with their moral beliefs, and a pretty good coming of age story to boot.

“I very much enjoyed Never Kneel. It is certainly thought-provoking and the author rightfully raises a voice against the umbiguitous hypocrisy perpetrated in the name of religion, but this discussion remains a big short sighted, if only because of the limited context in which he explores these ideas. Neverless, I would love to see something more from Seth Graham on this; his account of losing his religion begs for a follow-up.”

This zine is wonderful and in reply to Kta...it is not hateful at all. I know Seth personally and he asked me to read and see if I would want to distro it...I found it refreshingly lacking any form of dogma. It comes off as human and not derogatory, in not preaching that atheism/agnosticism is universally right...he makes the claim early on that it is right for HIM.

I recommend this one for the sacred and secular alike in hopes of furthering dialogues about this issue.
