When Language Runs Dry #2: A Zine for People With Chronic Pain and Their Allies
by Meredith and Claire
When Language Runs Dry is a zine that seeks to illuminate a life lived with chronic illness. The 2nd issue is just as pretty and sad as the first. Cristen Couzens writes about musculoskeletal dysfunction as it relates to the moon and her cycle. Claire Barrera addresses how her spirituality is related to her chronic pain. Annie Murphy contributed a comic about her experiences filing for, and succeeding in obtaining disability. Marissa Stern describes growing up with Crohn's. Meredith Butner talks about her inbetween days, of calculating the risks and benefits of self-care. Disbelief is a reoccurring theme this issue, as several stories touch on the ways in which support is sometimes lacking. But there's hope yet; the issue also includes a thorough section on being specifically more supportive to those with chronic illness.
