Geneva 13 #9
by Kevin Dunn
Geneva 13 is a local zine with an often global appeal. It's concept is a simple one: to write about issues happening within a 13 mile radius of Geneva, New York. In issue #9, they explore the complicated and disturbing history of garbage in Geneva. They then turn a critical eye on the situation today: two mega-landfills less than 13 miles from Geneva. This is one of the biggest trash sites in the northeast -- with garbage being brought in from across the region. After profiling the 2 dumps, they interview a trash collector as well as an anti-waste activist. They discuss composting, and even suggest their favorite songs about garbage. This issue talks a lot of trash and packs a wallop!

“It's one of those zines that you read and wish it came as a freebie with the local paper so people outside the zine-nerd community could get exposed to it. ... this one's absolutely inspiring.”
