East Village Inky #44
Ayun Halliday's East Village Inky puts even the most prolific of long-spanning zines to shame. Now on its 44th issue, the little NY parent/kiddy zine that could just gets better with age. This time around we see Ayun taking centerstage from the tykes, tots, mini-hipsters, and wee ones in her life. (Note: that last bit's an in-joke you'll only get if you order the zine; so do that!) Issue 44 is about Ayun's battle to build the best NYC guidebook ever, a look at the documentary film Babies and its critical response, and a hee-larious deconstruction of Little Women, including a funny-as-funny-gets play you can put on with your friends. This big ol' sprawling gush of Inkiness ends with her second-half Greg's advice to fathers on the scandal of pilates (in comic form.) All this and a back-page kombucha how-to! And unicorn drawings! And a Portland trip! And a cameo by Xtra Tuf's Moe Bowstern! Woo!
