Phase 7 #017: Weezer Blue Album

by Alec Longstreth

Alec Longstreth, noted humble and excited personal storyteller and Weezer Fan Club Member #2660, writes ten short stories, one for each song on the noted first self-titled "Blue" album. But you see, prior to Weezer, we learn that Alec didn't know much about music at all. And learning about Weezer is so thorough, so all-encompassing, that he doesn't bother to learn about other music. He co-hosts a radio show with Weezer as his entry point. But Weezer defines his heartbreak, his re-growth, and eventually his understanding of his own feelings, and his ability to process them. And if Weezer is all of his happiness, then strangely all of his frustration and problems seem to be borne of cars and traffic, whether it's being stuck in LA traffic (with Weezer on the radio being his only salvation), teenagers driving dangerously with him in the back seat (again, Weezer on the stereo, his first exposure), or a long car trip to Ohio (guess what's on the stereo?).
