Because last year was\u00a0<em>particularly bad<\/em>, I&#8217;m looking forward and not back as much as possible. But I also want to learn and grow in the new year. It&#8217;s just the right amount of personal narrative, history lesson, and feminist survival story, with wild hand-done art.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/microcosmpublishing.com\/catalog\/books\/6837\/\">Thing Explai<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/microcosmpublishing.com\/catalog\/books\/6837\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/static.microcosmpublishing.com\/catimages\/thingexplainer_lg.jpg\" width=\"172\" height=\"233\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/microcosmpublishing.com\/catalog\/books\/6837\/\">ner<\/a> is currently my favorite gifty book, because I&#8217;m kind of in love with infographics, and I love complicated science but am terrible about learning. This makes learning fun again, which is awesome, and there&#8217;s a sense of humor to it that I adore.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/static.microcosmpublishing.com\/catimages\/thinslicesofanxiety_lg.jpg\" width=\"183\" height=\"236\" \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Despite basically being a picture book, <a href=\"https:\/\/microcosmpublishing.com\/catalog\/books\/7801\">Thin Slices of Anxiety<\/a> is particularly feels-inducing, and filled with a painful amount of truth for anxiety-sufferers, but in a non-threatening adorable style;\u00a0like a truth-punch to the chest followed by a soothing, prickly hug of camaraderie.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/static.microcosmpublishing.com\/catimages\/anxiety_lg.jpg\" width=\"187\" height=\"268\" \/>Along similar lines, <a href=\"https:\/\/microcosmpublishing.com\/catalog\/zines\/6862\/\">This is your Brain on Anxiety<\/a> is a great primer on what the fuck is going on when you&#8217;re suffering from anxiety, and offers possible relief, while <a href=\"https:\/\/microcosmpublishing.com\/catalog\/zines\/7146\/\">This is Your Brain on Depression<\/a> gave me a lot more confidence in my understanding of [the many types of] depression, as well as my approaches to solutions. I&#8217;ve sent both zines to some of my best friends because it resonates with me so much, and the information is so critical.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/static.microcosmpublishing.com\/catimages\/depression_lg.jpg\" width=\"188\" height=\"266\" \/>\n<p>And if you&#8217;re like me, your best bet is probably to start an emotional support collection with\u00a0Dr. Faith&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/microcosmpublishing.com\/catalog\/other\/7078\">5-Minute Therapy Superpack<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/static.microcosmpublishing.com\/catimages\/bicyclecoloringbook_lg.jpg\" width=\"297\" height=\"233\" \/>I&#8217;ve mostly avoided the coloring book fad, but <a href=\"https:\/\/microcosmpublishing.com\/catalog\/books\/7161\">The Bicycle Coloring Book: Journey to the End of the World <\/a>still captures my attention every time I open it.
