As I quickly figured out, talking to <em>anyone <\/em>I was interested in could be really difficult. It took my best friend practically shaking me to realize that the nice girl who talked to me in the pop-tart aisle of the grocery store, <em>who even gave me her number,<\/em> was definitely hitting on me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/microcosmpublishing.com\/catalog\/books\/10051\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/microcosmpublishing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/workbook.png\" alt=\"UnF*ck Your Intimacy book \" class=\"wp-image-2892\" width=\"233\" height=\"311\" srcset=\"https:\/\/microcosmpublishing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/workbook.png 360w, https:\/\/microcosmpublishing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/workbook-225x300.png 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 233px) 100vw, 233px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>To be fair, relationships did get a lot easier in some respects. I can\u2019t even begin to say how incredible it is to date women and be free from gendered roles and expectations in a relationship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All the while, I am still far from perfect in the dating department. For instance, last year, I dated a girl for much longer than I should have because we were both too busy being polite to break up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, all of this is kind of embarrassing. It\u2019s easy to get trapped in my own head and think that I\u2019m the only one in the world with these kinds of problems. Because everyone else\u2019s relationships look so effortless, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s why I leapt at the opportunity to review Dr. Faith\u2019s new book <em><a href=\"http:\/\/microcosm.pub\/intimacy\">Unfuck Your Intimacy<\/a><\/em>. If you\u2019ve read any of her previous work\u2014and chances are if you\u2019re here reading this, you have\u2014you know that Dr. Faith is like a best friend who wants nothing but the best for you, but isn\u2019t afraid to call you on your bullshit. I can\u2019t tell you the amount of times I had to stop reading for a minute to laugh and think, \u201cwow, that is <em>absolutely <\/em>me.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Faith\u2019s humor takes a topic as, well,<em> intimate<\/em> as sex and relationships and makes it accessible and approachable, even if history hasn\u2019t been the kindest to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My favorite chapter was definitely \u201cHow to Date Like a Grown-Up\u201d and Dr Faith\u2019s advice on \u201cwhen to terminate\u201d a relationship that\u2019s not working. It was so helpful to reorient myself on when it\u2019s okay to break up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It sounds so simple, but I feel like I can finally give myself permission to leave a relationship that isn\u2019t working for me, just because it isn\u2019t working or we aren\u2019t a great fit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This book was also written with queer people specifically in mind and has advice for you no matter where you are in the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> But don\u2019t let me fool you into thinking this is a book just on dating.
