After getting a mysterious letter about his beloved’s death, a fisherman sets out to retrieve her soul from the Isle of the Dead and bring her back to life. Along the way, he encounters a tyrannical crow, shapeshifting demigods, and a fertility goddess. Blending together Eastern and Western mythologies, Shakespearean comedies, Homeric epics, and a healthy helping of sex, this modern take on the hero’s journey is heady, highly imaginative, and a doozy of a tale.
