Big Black: Stand at Attica is a graphic novel memoir detailing one of the bloodiest days in history, September 13th 1971, the fourth and final day of the Attica prison riot. It's written from the perspective of a man responsible for the safety of hostages and negotiating with external forces, Frank "Big Black" Smith, in tandem with writer Jared Reinmuth and illustrator Améziane to relay the story of the riots and honor the lives lost that day in graphic detail. Refusing to accept the injustices perpetrated against the powerless, Smith writes to carry on the historical legacy of the rebelling prisoners.
