MARCH book One by Nate Powell John Lewis and Andrew Aydin

MARCH: Book 1

by Andrew Aydin Author, John Lewis Author and Nate Powell Author

This is the first volume of MARCH, the trilogy of graphic novels about the civil rights movement from the perspective of now-Congressman John Lewis, who was on the front lines, organizing, rallying, and of course marching. Lewis's life and the movement it's been inextricably bound up in is vividly told and illustrated by co-writer Andrew Ayden and comics artist Nate Powell.  Book one sees Lewis leave the sharecropper's farm in rural Alabama, have a life-changing encounter with Martin Luther King, Jr., participate in founding the Nashville Student Movement, participate in lunch counter sit ins, and eventually end up in a thrilling and terrifying moment on the steps of City Hall. Vital historical reading, and a well-told, well-drawn story.
