Punks Around #8: Eggplant Eater's Edition - Veganism and Punk Rock

by Alexander Herbert Author

There's Nothing More Punk than Veganism!

"There's nothing more punk than veganism!" So begins Punks Around editor Al's intro to this cool and compelling zine about vegan punks. (He also wants us to know that he's old enough not to have realized what the eggplant emoji means and yes he's really just talking about that delightful vegetable, classic staple of vegan lasagna.) The introduction makes the case for veganism as an anti-capitalist, compassionate, conservationist practice of self-expression; then there are a ton of contributions, including essays, a band interview, an interview with a vegan store proprietor, a comic, and a poem, that are more focused on the delights and tribulation of being a vegan in the punk scene.
