King Cat #70

King Cat #70

by John Porcellino Author

King Cat #70 marks the 20th anniversary of King Cat, so by this point, you hopefully know what to expect. Sparse beautiful line drawings about cats, and nature, and teenage adventures. Issue #70 has another top 10 list, and another comic about Diogenes. John contemplates a suburban lifestyle, tackles depression, and tracks down a Colorado folk artist. Our recommendation: curl up on a snowy day and read a bunch of King Cats. You won't regret it.

“John Porcellino brings us the 70th issue of his long running King-Cat zine. He has now been making these books for twenty years. It’s not a joke or a game. He loves his cat. He’s often depressed. But he is as regular as I don’t know what when it comes to putting out this chronicle of his daily thoughts and events. The highlight of the this issue is a recounting of once meeting an old timer artist randomly in a small town and then recently returning, fifteen years later, to check up on him. Other content you’ll find are wispy one page or one frame comics (many about the cat) and a top forty list that includes watching Geto Boys on YouTube, Modern Lovers, and more than one mention of his cat. If you don’t like cats you should probably just fuck off.”
