Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland

by Patrick Radden Keefe Author

This history of the Troubles in 1970s Northern Island is a gripping page-turner. Told through the lives, acts, and relationships of several key players in the IRA's many-fronted war. Patrick Radden Keefe introduces us to complicated people who could seen as heroes or villains depending on where you stood at any given moment, unearths the many complexities of the conflict, paints a vivid picture of what it was like to be there, and even solves a cold case. He aggressively takes no sides, showing the violence and misdeeds of everyone involved, including some unlikely players. Heavy subject matter but compulsively readable and you'll likely still be thinking about it years after you read it.
