East Village Inky #36
Ayun writes a delightful quarterly zine mostly about being a New York City mother and the adventures she has with her two small children. Hand written essays are illustrated with lots of cute diagrams. Ayun's writing is clear, fun to read, and full of keen observations about her life. I really appreciated the sentiment here. There really is a lot of information presented and it's truly a great resource for parents in comparable situations. In this issue! The family goes to Alaska. Where folks are daring enough to do a production of Greg's play, "Yeast Nation," about single-celled organisms at the beginning of time. Sounds fake, but is actually incredibly true!!! There's a list of things learned while bowling, and many many book reviews!

“The venerable East Village Inky provides us with another installment, this one detailing the family’s trip to Juneau, Alaska for the premier of a musical. If you’ve not had the opportunity to read East Village Inky, it’s written by the mother of two kids (who were a lot younger when I last reviewed an issue!) in a comic style. … it’s a good zine and usually worth a read.”
