A. Hyatt Verrill

Alpheus Hyatt Verrill lived an adventurous life from 1871 to 1954. Born in New Haven, Connecticut to a Yale zoology professor, Hyatt traveled the world, writing with great confidence about everything he encountered, on topics ranging from natural history to science fiction to wilderness survival skills. He was buddies with Teddy Roosevelt, and H.P. Lovecraft once made fun of him in a short story.
