Cristina White began researching holistic and alternative healing modalities while doing graduate work in Humanistic Psychology. Her first book, The Healing Environment (authored as Cristina Ismael), went beyond the traditional definition of medicine; it envisioned aids to the healing process that utilized all aspects of our natural and built environment. Her prose, poems, and plays have been published in several magazines and journals, including Orion Magazine, Viridine Literary, Discretionary Love, and the anthology Youth in Wartime. Her essay "Forgiveness," published in Timberline Review, earned a nomination for the Pushcart Prize.
