K. Chelsea Davis is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Orlando Florida. She began working in the counseling field for over 8 years as a student and professional. Being a part of the Black and LGBTQ+ community and working closely with this population has allowed Chelsea to help her clients seek understanding of how their trauma affects the mind, body and spirit. Chelsea aims to help empower members of these communities to access joy on more days than not. Chelsea has had the opportunity to work closely with the LGBTQ community providing HIV testing and Risk Prevention counseling at the University of Central Florida. After gaining insight into the disparities amongst minority and marginalized groups in healthcare, Chelsea shifted her focus to trauma earning a Trauma-Focused Hypnotherapy Certification and to help her clients process traumatic experiences through a state of relaxation and focus on the subconscious mind. In addition, Chelsea received her Certified Clinical Trauma Professional Certification to continue this healing work with a focus on the awareness of the body. She often uses somatic techniques such as mindfulness, deep breathing exercises, movement and grounding in order for her clients to learn to regulate their nervous systems. Since then Chelsea has contributed to various podcasts and online magazines such as Bustle and Women’s Health to spread insight in subjects of relationships, love, and self care.
