The Cat Man of Aleppo
by Irene Latham Author, Karim Shamsi-Basha Author and Yuko Shimizo Illustrator
When war came to the city of Aleppo in Syria, many residents fled. Ambulance driver Mohammed Alaa Aljaleel stayed behind to help care for his neighbors, human and feline. He used his meager income to buy food for the city's abandoned cats, but he couldn't care for them all on his own so he asked for help. People from all over the world sent him funds and encouragement, and he was able to open an animal sanctuary. This beautifully-illustrated picture book tells the story in a way young kids will love.
