Activists Under Surveillance: The FBI Files
by JPat Brown Author, B.C.D. Lipton Author, Michael Morisy Author and Jameel Jaffer Foreword
Short introductions preface relevant FBI files reproduced here so you can see the feds' memos, records, and data on US activists over the years, including Cesar Chavez, Betty Friedan, Aaron Swartz, Malcolm X, Howard Zinn, Fred Hampton, Margaret Sanger, Bayard Rustin, Abbie Hoffman, Harvey Milk, Martin Luther King, Jr., and more. There's a lot here to inspire anger, determination, and bafflement. As these documents show, the FBI has been very motivated to spy on people working for social change, but they are not always very good at it. Until they are, and then it's bad for us all.
