Taking Punk to the Masses: From Nowhere to Nevermind

This book is an oral history of the Seattle Sound or grunge music, as it sprung from punk and heavy metal as it developed in the 70s and 80s. This oral history is also turned visual with the photos inside and the included DVD. This project is the product of much work, compiled and filming over 800 interviews with people in the industry from musicians, producers, fans, club owners, and more people involved in the history and development of grunge and collecting over 140,000 objects from instruments to posters, costumes, band merch and more. The book follows the history of this genre and scene through a collection of 100 artifacts, which are put into context through the narrative and stories the author has woven together. Readers will encounter stories of people around some of the most notable bands of this era, from cartoonists and designers, photographers, and more.
