This Blessed Earth: A Year in the Life of an American Family Farm

This book explores life on a farm in America, exploring how it is a farmland is part and parcel of identity of the country. This comes from author Rick Hammond, who shares his experience growing up on a farm and spending nearly 40 years working on a homestead. As he prepares to pass down the farm, he chronicles some of the difficulties he currently faces and issues coming down the pike, that are on the horizon. Some of these issues include issues around trade and policies surrounding it, climate change, pipelines and drilling and more. The narrative follows his family throughout a year—starting from harvest to the following year’s harvest. The book paints a portrait of the changing landscape that farmers face and shares their legacy, their endurance, dedication, and legacy.
