Marbles: Mania, Depression, Michelangelo, and Me: A Graphic Memoir

Cartoonist Ellen Forney chronicles and explores her journey through a life of ups and downs in this graphic memoir. Forney was diagnosed with bipolar disorder just before turning 13, and this books shows her growing up, coming to identify as an artist, and finding role models in other artists with mood disorders, from Van Gogh to Plath.  Questioning the balance between medication, drugs, therapy, and creativity, as well as how we define "crazy," Marbles shows mental "illness" and its maintenance in a new, incredibly personal way.
