The Language of Trees

In this third installment in the Daybreak series, author Steve Wiegenstein takes the reader back to the eponymous 19th century commune, where the residents are being courted by a powerful lumber and mining interest, coaxing them to abandon their utopian values for the sake of immense wealth. But wealth isn't all that's pulling these idealists apart. A gruesome cocktail of temptations is at work, gnawing away at the foundations of the Daybreak community. Wiegenstein's storytelling is immediately compelling, and will remind students of the American utopian movement of Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Blithedale Romance. A page-turning read.
