Fire, Ice, and Physics: The Science of Game of Thrones
by Rebecca C. Thompson Author and Sean Carroll Author
If you read A Song of Ice and Fire or watched A Game of Thrones, you likely had some questions about the feasibility of it all. Could winter really come forever Can you build an ice wall that lasts for 8000 years? How long does it take when pouring molten gold on someone's head to kill them? George RR Martin included a lot of made-up science; not just his fictional climatology but astronomy, metallurgy, chemistry, and biology too. Some of this can explained by magic but a good scientist knows there are always reasons behind such phenomena. Fire, Ice, and Physics is a great companion for rewatches and probably more entertaining than the last season itself.
