An Edge Effect: Art & Ecology in the Nordic Landscape

This book features interviews with artists, case studies of Nordic art, as well as two essays by curators. This collection of art and discussions on art and exhibitions gather perspectives on environmental art in Nordic areas. The contributors are responding to the rapid changes that the Nordic Area faces in this Anthropocene, with discussions on how to build a more resilient planet, with a wide array of approaches to get there. The artists and contributors are engaged with more than just art—they are active in the preservation and are directly engaged with the environment in their other efforts outside their art, such as being climate scientists, farmers, urban planners, engineers, and more. The kinds of art they engage with are diverse, from being seed-bankers working with urban gardens, or being activists, they explore the possibility of a different future than the crash course many of us fear the future could be.
