Lady Elder Tree: Northern Plant Animism & Witchcraft

The Elder Tree has been associated with witchcraft and its worship was forbidden by early Christian influences. The Elder Tree Lady is a deity associated with this venerated, witchy tree, where a person gathering materials must ask her ritually for permission to remove any part of the tree. The book has been compiled by several authors, scholars and researchers, who discuss the historic influence of the tree, a common European tree that has spread around the world. I will note that many parts of the tree, unless processed properly, are toxic to mammals.
