Bad Fat Black Girl: Notes from a Trap Feminist

Growing up on the south side of Chicago, Sesali Bowen learned early on how to stay on her toes and fight for herself and other Black women as she navigated Blackness, queerness, fatness, friendship, poverty, sex work, and self-love. And later, as a hip-hop journalist profiling game-changing Black artists, Bowen saw that all the beauty and complexity she found amongst these artists was completely unrepresented in mainstream feminism. From there, she coined Trap Feminism - a contemporary framework where feminism meets today's hip-hop in an inclusive new work that Bowen outlines here.
