Do You Believe in Magic?: Vitamins, Supplements, and All Things Natural--A Look Behind the Curtain
This book dives into the world of medicine, alternative medicine, natural medicine, and more. Author and doctor Paul A. Offit looks into these industries and delivers his take on the effectiveness of them. Ultimately, he calls these distinctions (namely the label “alternative medicine) arbitrary, saying that in the end there medicine that works and medicine that isn’t medicine. He comes bearing criticisms on parts of these industries, whether these are traditional or alternative, saying that there is a history of both sometimes preying on unsuspecting patients looking for remedies. He doesn’t totally discard either camp; he will also share stories of alternative medicine being incredibly effective.
