Voices from Larung Gar: Shaping Tibetan Buddhism for the Twenty-First Century
This book introduces different voices from people who have ideas and thoughts on how Buddhism can help us manage the troubles and challenges in today’s day and age. The contributors are from Larding Gar, the largest Buddhist organization in Tibet. It provides ideas of the religion and how these can apply to issues of all kinds that we face in the present, such as gender equality, science, being ethical, and animal rights. From people in different roles and places within the religion, this book features voices of women, nuns, other leaders and figures whose ideas balance the continuation of the institution and religion with our changing world.
