Global Perspectives on ADHD: Social Dimensions of Diagnosis and Treatment in Sixteen Countries

This book explores what ADHD is but adds an interesting research twist. From many editors and contributors, the book contains information on how the condition is treated in many different parts of the world, in 16 countries. It begins in the 80s and 90s, where the diagnosis is commonplace in the USA, but was hardly recognized worldwide. The book goes on to explore how the rate of diagnosis bloomed by the beginning of the 21st century in places in the world where it had been seemingly non-existent in the past. By this time, the world’s concept of what the syndrome and symptom criteria were evolved—sometimes varying from professional to professional, place to place.

The many contributors will go over the different, many views of ADHD across the world and shows how these different views help paint a picture that completes a view of the condition.
