Hildegard of Bingen - Selections from Her Writings
by Hildegard of Bingen Author
Hildegard of Bingen was a twelfth-century German nun and mystic and rare female voice in the Catholic Church. She spent her time writing on religious subjects, practicing medicine, doling out prophecies writing plays, preaching monastic reform, composing music and in her spare time founded two nunneries. Her major legacy of writing was called Scivias, which told of twenty six visions she had while under the influence of her deity. The Ways of the Lord is an important historical resource not just for spirituality but also upon the lives of medieval women.
