Four Men Shaking: Searching for Sanity with Samuel Beckett, Norman Mailer, and My Perfect Zen Teacher
This is a memoir that blends the experience of the author’s literary experiences and friendships, his writing, and his Zen Buddhism practice. The title references the author himself, alongside the lives and narratives shared with three others—writers Samuel Beckett and Norman Miller, and Zen Master Kyudo Nakagawa Roshi. It follows the authors pursuit for enlightenment and in his writing journey, where he shares the intersection between his art and his belief, exploring buddhist concepts, contending with and embodying them, such as working through form in both fields, and learning reality acceptance, and much of the like, through the intersecting stories of these four men.
