Songs of the Sons and Daughters of Buddha: Enlightenment Poems from the Theragatha and Therigatha

This is a work of translation that explores the lyrical verses of some early Buddhist nuns and monks, some dating back over 2000 years. These early practitioner monastics put into poetry much of their experience with spirituality and the everyday. These works were collected into two collections: Theragatha and Therigatha, which translate into the "Verses of Elder Monks" and "Verses of Elder Nuns”. This doesn’t compile all those works but the translators (poets themselves) have selected some of the notable and impactful of these. These poems reveal all sorts of experience and emotion, their insights and wisdom, revealing their experience and elements of Buddhism.
