Roots
This book is a photographic journey that contrasts nature and the opposing force of industrialization. It covers an art project and installation where a conceptual artists cast sculptures of the Pequi tree. The trees, some of which aged centuries old, represent a life anew that clashed with modernity and globalization, and importantly climate change. Alongside the photos that document the sculptures of these trees’ roots, there are a variety of essays from many authors that explores the works from several perspectives, from sciences, history, and social science.
