Abandoned North Cascades: Nature Takes Back in Washington

This book explores abandoned buildings in the Cascades in Washington state, telling a tale of both the early 19th century and a story of today. The book will cover the historical/archeological implication that sites like these have for us, etching a story that would eventually be woven into what we now call history—such as revealing the gold rush and fur trades that characterized the early history of the area. It presents a history of boom-towns, industries that have risen and fallen, people that migrate, and (interestingly) a take on mental health as it relates to the history of the state. This book is quirky as it merges some interesting and some unlikely points when it comes to observing the abandoned architecture of today.
