Abandoned Eastern Ohio
This book explores the abandonment of many places in Eastern Ohio through vivid photography, from photographer John Ponchak. The book focuses on many places of manufacturing, especially places that were crucial to the wartime efforts during the World Wars. As time went on, even though the military-industrial complex boomed, work was outsourced from these areas. To many, these places are a ghost of their former selves. The loss of employment for many led to many people leaving these areas, and saw that more than just factories were closed; schools, churches, hospitals, stadiums, and many other places that once bustled with human activity became shells. The author and photographer gives a view of many different places’ pasts and present.
