Back before the Sir, Elton John was just a bloke who played the piano in pubs across London. In 1970, his single Your Song shot him to global superstardom, but there would have been few observers who might have guessed that 50 years later he'd still be culturally relevant, let alone a Knight. While he was always, shall we say, flamboyant, he overcame early addition problems to become a champion of charity.
