Eartha & Kitt: A Daughter's Love Story in Black and White

This is a unique biography and memoir, that documents a particular side of American History, sharing the story of Eartha and her daughter Kitt. Eartha grew up an extremely poor cotton farmer of mixed race although perceived by larger society as black, in rural South Carolina. Abandoned as a toddler, her only family and her world would be her biological daughter, blonde and light skinned, that contrasted with her. Told partly in the words of the daughter herself, this book explores Eartha’s life and the 30 years she spent traveling with Kitt, where the reader will learn all about her character, her loves, her life, including her roles in different movies and roles on Broadway. Full of engaging, heartwarming, visceral, and lively stores, this book shares the lives of a mother and daughter making their way through America.
