Deep Care: The Radical Activists Who Provided Abortions, Defied the Law, and Fought to Keep Clinics Open

by Angela Hume Author

Following the radical abortion activists who fought to keep abortion accessible through menstrual extraction and collaboration with other health workers. After abortion was legalized with Roe v Wade, they kept their studies and teachings going, updating their practices with the times and changing cultural landscapes like the AIDS epidemics and anti-abortion terrorism. Deep Care specifically focuses on a group of generations of activists working under- (and above-) ground in Oakland from the 1970s to 2010s.
