What Good is a Dead Tree?
This book explores the life of dead trees, introducing kids to thinking about nature and how the ecosystem works. With lush forest photography, this book explores the process of decomposition, following the life of a great oak tree that has fallen. Aimed at kids around ages 9 to 13, this book shares the life that the tree’s death brings about as insects, plants, and fungi spring to life from the remains of the giant. Through this exploration, kids will also learn about the anatomy of trees, life cycles of different animals and fungi, the nutrients that decaying wood gives the forest floor to other animals and trees themselves.
