Nightmare Alley: Movie Tie-In Edition

Nightmare Alley starts with a description of a carnival geek, alcoholic and abject, who’s the object of the crowd’s disgust and derision. Young Stan Carlisle, a clever and ambitious carny, vows that nothing like that will happen to him. Soon, Stan rises to fame as a mentalist with a cute assistant (later his harried wife). He then becomes a spiritualist, catering to the rich and gullible in their homes. It seems Stan has the world at his fingertips. At least for now.

This book is now a movie, as this edition is the movie tie-in edition, directed by the acclaimed Guillermo del Toro
