This is a book of activism and a memoir that explores the experiences of Nobel Peace Prize laureate and journalist Maria Ressa. It follows her life as a reporter for CNN, her lifelong efforts in questioning the politics of her home country of the Philippines, her experience navigating censorship, litigation, prison and punishment for sharing the truth, and ultimately her fight against authoritarianism and injustice. Her journey and accounts survey the world and present many of the variables that we need to look out for such as the effects of emerging and existing technologies, how these intersect with longstanding hate and hate groups, disinformation, and the systems that underpin and perpetuate all of this.
