When Longing Becomes Your Lover: Breaking from Infatuation, Rejection, and Perfectionism to Find Authentic Love: A True Story of Overcoming Limerence
This book is the work of a journalist that explores her journey and subsequent research in a common thread that emerged in her experience of dating and seeking romantic relationships—namely the emotion and experience of limerence. Otherwise characterized by longing, even to an excessive and obsessive degree, the author found herself longing for and even needing this feeling of longing. Through research and her insights, she gained a great deal of knowledge about how relationships, love, sex, and social commitment work. In that same vein, many of her expectations and beliefs surrounding these things were informed by culture and individual psychology to a diverse array of experiences, personalities, and experiences with romance and limerence. She’ll explore the function and emergence of limerence—as well as sharing her own view on how to overcome the dysfunctional parts of longing to advocate for more healthy and authentic ways to connect and foster intimacy.
