The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History
This book touches on a world to come, covering the topic of mass extinction that is underway as of this writing (before, after, and during). The narrative starts mullions of years ago, touching on the first of the five prior mass extinctions that have gone on in the planet. This reports on the scientists monitoring the state of the sixth of today, which is predicted to be the most devastating one since the dinosaurs got hit with an asteroid. Author Elizabeth Kolbert shares the reports of the scientists across many fields and disciplines, from all corners of the world, who study all the life imaginable in all this planet’s ecosystems. Through this history, Kolbert presents the information with philosophical questions, such as if this mass extinction event will be the legacy that humans leave in the history of the world and ultimately thus what it means to be human.
