Black Magic: How to Be a Bad Witch
by Lily Hart Author
This is a witchy flavor adaptation of a burn book; for those not familiar with the term, a burn book was a term coined and popularized as a concept by the seminal pop cultural film Mean Girls. The purpose of a burn book has been to let out one’s grievances, annoyances, and general complaints about a person or a group of people. This author’s approach to black magic differs from many of the accounts surrounding the concept; oftentimes it’s seen as a means to spread evil and act on selfish desires — but the author reframes these objectives and encourages to stop caring about low energy people and entering their “villain era”. It supports externalizing emotions, instead of internalizing hurt, and directing them towards perpetrators.
