Queen Elizabeth (Little People, Big Dreams)
by Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara Author Melissa Lee Johnson Illustrator
This book for young children ages 4 to 7 follows the life of Lilibet, who grew up to become Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. As a child, Elizabeth loved dogs and horses and dreamed of living on a farm. However, her uncle Edward renounced the Crown, making her father the next king and her the heir. From that day on, she prepared for her future as queen.
At 13, World War II broke out and Elizabeth bravely served as an ambulance driver. After the war, she married Prince Philip and was crowned Queen in 1952. She served as a beacon of continuity for the next 70 years. The book features stylish illustrations and extra facts, including a biographical timeline with historical photos and a detailed profile of the monarch’s life.
